Privacy Policy for MakeItSlides – PDF Converter for Google Slides

This Privacy Policy explains how MakeItSlides – PDF Converter for Google Slides ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our browser extension, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

2. The Core Principle: What We Do Not Collect

Protecting document confidentiality is a deliberate product decision. As part of the normal workflow:

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your original PDF files to our own servers.
  • We do not maintain a server-side archive of the text, images, layouts, or business content of your PDFs.
  • We do not maintain a server-side archive of the full contents of Google Slides presentations created in your Google account.

Your PDF is processed inside the extension environment, and the resulting presentation is created directly in your own Google account.

3. Information We Collect or Receive

To operate the current v1 early-access Service, we collect or receive a limited set of data:

  • Account Data: Basic Google sign-in data such as your email address, Google user identifier, and basic profile information needed to authenticate your account.
  • Account Record and Service Metadata: A Firebase Auth or Firestore account record, generated Google Slides presentation identifiers, conversion states, timestamps, usage counters, and account status needed to operate the Service and prevent abuse.
  • Telemetry and Diagnostics: Extension version, browser or OS context, error messages, stack trace snippets, and related technical details needed to debug failures and improve reliability.

The current version is a free early-access release. We do not currently process subscription billing, payment details, or payment processor data.

We do not currently use analytics cookies on the landing page.

4. How PDF Files Are Processed and Temporary Drive Assets

When you upload a PDF, the extension processes the file locally within the extension environment. To assemble Google Slides, the Service temporarily uploads generated image assets into your own Google Drive.

Due to technical requirements of the Google Slides API, these temporary assets may be briefly granted "anyone with the link can read" permissions so that Google Slides can fetch and place them. These assets are scheduled for automatic deletion promptly after the conversion process completes or fails. We do not publish or intentionally share these links with third parties.

5. Google API Limited Use Policy

The extension requests Google API scopes needed to sign you in, create or edit Google Slides, and upload temporary assets to Google Drive.

Our use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • We do not sell Google user data.
  • We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes.
  • We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless we have your affirmative agreement, it is necessary for security, or to comply with law.
  • We only use Google API data to provide or improve the MakeItSlides – PDF Converter for Google Slides workflow you request.

6. Legal Bases for Processing (For EEA and UK Users)

  • Performance of a Contract: To authenticate you, perform conversions, and deliver the Service you request.
  • Legitimate Interests: To prevent abuse, investigate errors, maintain security, and improve Service reliability.
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable law, lawful requests, and enforcement obligations.

7. Data Sharing and Third-Party Providers

We only share information as necessary to operate the Service:

  • Google: To authenticate you and create, modify, or temporarily stage files within your own Google account.
  • Infrastructure Providers: Services such as Firebase or Google Cloud used for authentication, account records, hosting, and diagnostics.
  • Legal Compliance: Authorities or advisers where disclosure is strictly required by law or necessary to protect our legal rights.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local Data: Conversion history and previews stored in your browser remain there until you clear extension data or uninstall the extension.
  • Account and Service Metadata: We retain account records, conversion states, usage counters, and related operational metadata for as long as reasonably needed to operate the Service, provide support, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
  • Temporary Drive Assets: Generated assets uploaded to your Google Drive are scheduled for deletion promptly after conversion completes or fails.
  • Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your server-side account data by emailing convertpdf.dev@gmail.com. We will process erasure requests within 30 days unless we must retain limited data to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our rights.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • Access and Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction and Erasure: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data or delete your account data.
  • Restriction or Objection: You may have the right to object to or limit certain processing.
  • California Privacy Rights: We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.

11. International Data Transfers

The Service is operated from Israel. Where we use service providers in other countries, including the United States, we rely on appropriate contractual, technical, or legal safeguards where required by applicable law.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure. You remain responsible for securing your Google account and the files stored in your Google Drive and Google Slides account.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will become effective when the updated policy is published in the extension or on our website. Continued use of the Service after the updated policy takes effect indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
